Frequently Asked
Questions
FAQs
At Recover Spine & Sport, we serve patients from Utah County, the Wasatch Front, and throughout Utah who want to know what makes us different, what to expect, and how our treatments compare to other options. Here are answers to the most common questions people ask us.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a full medical history, advanced diagnostic testing,
and a trial treatment personalized to your needs. Most first appointments
last 1.5–2.5 hours, depending on the complexity of your condition. You’ll leave
with clear next steps not guesswork.
How much does it cost to get started?
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We work with most major insurance providers, and can help verify
your coverage. If you don’t have insurance, or if certain treatments aren’t
covered, we provide flexible self-pay options.
Will these treatments really work for me?
That’s exactly why we include a trial treatment at your first visit to see how your body responds. Our patients often feel improvement even after the first appointment, but your provider will give you an honest assessment of whether our programs are the right fit for you.
Why not go to Mexico for regenerative treatments?
- Quality and safety matter: Treatments abroad may not meet the same standards for sourcing, sterility, or clinical oversight as U.S.- based care.
- Follow-up care is limited: If complications arise, you may not have access to ongoing support. At Recover, your care doesn’t stop after the injection,we guide you through every stage of recovery.
- We use proven, U.S.-regulated biologics: Our stem cell and peptide therapies are sourced responsibly, researched thoroughly, and administered by a physician with advanced fellowships.
- Value isn’t just about cost: Patients who go abroad sometimes save upfront, but risk ineffective or unsafe treatments. At Recover, you’re investing in results, safety, and long-term outcomes.

Are U.S. regenerative treatments better than going abroad?
It’s a fair question—many patients wonder why treatments can cost less in places like Mexico. The difference comes down to safety, quality, and outcomes:
- Regulation and sourcing: In the U.S., regenerative products must meet strict FDA standards. Abroad, biologics may not be screened, sterilized, or tracked the same way.
- Physician expertise: At Recover, your treatments are guided by a doctor with advanced fellowships in regenerative medicine, concussion rehab, and sports medicine, not just a general provider.
- Integrated care: Our programs don’t stop at an injection. You’ll also get diagnostics, physical therapy, and recovery strategies to make your treatment actually work long-term.
- Peace of mind: Complications abroad can be costly and difficult to manage once you’re home. With us, you have a team you can trust, close to home, right here in Utah County.
For many patients, that means the value of U.S.based care is far greater than the upfront savings abroad.

Is Dr. Averett a chiropractor?
Yes and no. He is a Sports Chiropractic Physician, which is not like your typical family chiropractor. Dr. Averett began as a chiropractor, then went on to complete three advanced fellowships in regenerative medicine, concussion rehabilitation, and sports medicine. His approach goes beyond adjustments offering whole-body solutions that actually solve problems instead of just managing symptoms.
Do I need a referral to be seen at Recover Spine & Sport?
No. You can schedule directly with us without a referral. Simply book your first visit online or call/text our office at (801) 855-6101.
What conditions do you treat?
Most chiropractic and physical therapy focuses on isolated muscles or joints. At Recover Spine & Sport, we take a whole-body approach using our proprietary Grid system. This provides omni-directional resistance that mimics real-life movement instead of isolating one muscle group at a time.
We also train for ballistic force production (helping muscles fire quickly to protect against re-injury) and emphasize active, pain-free range of motion. That means you don’t just rehab your injury, you regain strength, coordination, and confidence in movement.

How long will it take to see results?
How long do regenerative treatments last?
The effects of regenerative therapies vary depending on your condition, overall health, and lifestyle. Many patients experience long-lasting improvements because these treatments are designed to stimulate true healing, not just cover symptoms.
- Joint pain (knee, shoulder, hip): Relief can last for years when combined with rehab and lifestyle support.
- Disc or spine conditions: Most patients report sustained improvement, especially when therapies are paired with corrective exercises.
- Athletic injuries: Results often last through full return-to-play and beyond, with lower risk of re-injury compared to traditional rehab alone.
Unlike pain injections or medications, regenerative treatments are not a short-term “quick fix.” They help your body repair itself, which means results can continue to improve over time.

What if I’m traveling from out of town?
We offer Rapid Plus programs that work great for out-of-town patients. These are focused, high-impact treatment schedules that maximize your care in a shorter timeframe (such as 3–5 days). Patients travel from across Utah County, the Wasatch Front, and even out of state to see us.
